Email privacy and impact on CERN email

The not so recent news article on CERN’s web page on email and privacy seems to be finally be followed up on by CERN’s computing division. It looks like that CERN will not anymore allow email to be forwarded or accepted by external email providers citing risk of exposing private content and passwords in the clear for the forwarding service. Many people including myself have mentally made peace with this fact but given the world we live in this seems not the best way of protecting your privacy of emails and protecting your CERN password.

I myself have gotten used to the way gmail let’s me organize my email … but it looks like it is time for another approach. Maybe we will have a follow up with best suggestions for how to manage your email right. Maybe best not to use google search for answering such a question ;-).
