Handed in and completed: Dr. Siddharth Narayanan

Siddharth thesis was a tour de force designing a new Deep Neural Network based top tagger for CMS which used jet substructure and the at the time brand new energy correlation functions. Than it was used in the first Mono-top analysis in CMS. Major contributions to the Mono-Higgs analysis where the Higgs decays to two b-quarks followed. The thesis entitled:

Searching for Dark Matter Using Jets and Jet Substructure at the Large Hadron Collider

was defended very well on January 25, 2019 and rounded up an intense and enjoyable stint in the PPC.

Sid handed in his thesis on his birthday (01/29) and shared the joy with the group serving one of the famous Lemon-Meringue Pies from Flour. He will be joining the Fidelity Investment firm in Boston and we hope he will not squander all of MIT’s retirement funds. 🙂

Siddharth in his best outfit yet, CP not so much, but both very happy!

A hearty congratulations to the first of four students having joined the PPC in 2014!
