¡Adéu, Martí!

After 8 months of hard work, coffee, and tacos, Martí leaves the PPC having submitted his Master’s Thesis: a huge congratulations!

A visiting student from ETH Zurich, Martí worked alongside our very own Mariarosaria and Kyungseop to study rare Higgs decays to a photon and a neutral meson, which in turn decays into a charged meson pair and another photon. His work at MIT focused in particular on developing a method to reconstruct the mesons using machine learning techniques, as well as improving the discrimination of the massive single photon plus jets background from the signal, which are both key components of the analysis that will be continued and eventually published. The work culminated in his thesis, titled Search for decays of the 125 GeV Higgs boson into a photon and a Φ, ω or D*0 meson, which he will present at ETH upon his return.

Your friendship and personality will be very much missed around here, and we wish you the best in your bright future!
